Focus on Existing Plans, Not New Pipelines
submitted by /u/Crybaby-Geek [link]
We must abandon this pipeline to honour our climate commitments and protect Indigenous rights. The proposed pipeline would increase emissions by 5–10 megatonnes, directly clashing with Ontario's net-zero goal, and the failure to engage First Nations properly risks legal challenges that could stall everything.
A new pipeline is a bad bet when existing plans are already behind schedule. We're struggling to deliver the $70B transit expansion—throwing billions at pipeline feasibility studies diverts money and attention from what voters actually paid for.
History shows that cancelling large projects to refocus can work—just look at BC after Site C. BC redirected resources to audit existing hydro and transit, and their delivery improved. Ontario should follow that model instead of starting another mega-project with uncertain demand.
This 'Delivery Acceleration Unit' is just another bureaucratic layer—what guarantees it won't become another broken promise?
Both sides want reliable infrastructure and a stable economy—the key is to align on delivery first. Instead of fighting over pipeline vs. no pipeline, let's agree that completing our current commitments builds trust for any future energy decisions.
